Purple Berry Cowl Free Crochet Pattern

Simple cowl works up in about 3 hours.

Materials

1 entire skein of Deborah Norville Serenity Chunky Tweed in Eclipse (blue)

1 skein of Deborah Norville Serenity Chunky Highland Heather (purple) (you use maybe a fourth of this one)

8.00mm hook

Marker to keep track of the end of each row.

Pattern

Chain 80, Slip stitch the chain together being careful not to twist the chain.

Row 1: Ch 2, HDC around and slip stitch to the top of the last chain.

Row 2: Ch 3, DC around, slip stitch to close.

Row 3: Ch 2, [3HDC, 1 bubble] repeat. The bubble stitch is made of 5 HDC. The bubble is worked with purple. Carry the purple yarn on the back side along with you as you work around.

Bubble: Begin a HDC in the next stitch. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops so that you have two loops on the hook. Continue to start three more HDC stitches in the SAME STITCH, only taking off the first two loops on the hook each go until you have five stitches on your hook. At that point yarn over and pull through all five stitches on the hook.

Row 4: Ch 3, DC around, slip stitch to close.

Row 5. Change to purple. Chain 2. [Sc, HDC, DC, HDC, Sc] repeat to end of row and slip stitch to close row.

Row 6: Switch back to blue. Chain 3. Dc around. Slip stitch to close.

Row 7:  Ch 2, [3HDC, 1 bubble] repeat. The bubble stitch is made of 5 HDC. The bubble is worked with purple. Carry the purple yarn on the back side along with you as you work around.

Row 8: Ch 3, DC around, slip stitch to close.

Row 9: Ch 2, HDC around. Finish off and weave in your ends! Done!
